How often should you repaint your wooden windows or shutters?

On average, you should repaint your wooden shutters or window frames every 5 to 7 years. Exactly how often you should paint them depends on the following elements:
- The paint you use. How good is the quality of the paint? Usually, the more expensive paints are slightly higher quality, which means they are less likely to flake or discolour and therefore less likely to need repainting. The type of paint also plays a role: synthetic paint, for example, does not retain its colour as well (five to six years) as acrylic paint (seven to eight years). - The environment and weather conditions also determine how soon your windows and shutters need repainting.
