Creating a cinema room

With the right colour combination you keep both the magical movie vibe and the sense of space. Use a deep, almost-black shade (S 8505-R20B) for the main walls to instantly set that bold cinema-hall atmosphere.
Our smart paint tip: Paint the wall with the window, as well as the ceiling, in a light grey (S 2005-R40B). Because a wall with a window always looks darker due to backlighting, this lighter shade prevents the room from feeling stuffy.

Finish the look with striking accents in bold traffic red (RAL 3020). Perfect for a classic cinema seat, an eye-catching frame with a film poster, or a fun decorative cushion!

Sleeping in the deep sea - Underwater world kids' room

Is your child fascinated by the ocean? An underwater world room is the perfect place for little explorers to drift off to dreamland. Set the base with soothing ocean-blue shades, which you can dress up with soft cuddly toys like an octopus or a bold shark.

For the creative mum or dad, we have an extra fun idea: paint soft waves on the wall to create a playful border! Use a dark blue paint for the bottom half of the wall (the deep ocean) and let this transition, via the painted waves, into a fresh light blue at the top. This instantly gives the room depth and a magical effect.

To nicely balance out the cool blue, you can work with a contrasting accent colour. How about a bright orange accent, inspired by a submarine or a tropical fish? This warm colour pops beautifully against the blue base and brings the whole underwater world to life!

Unicorn kids room theme

Is your child crazy about unicorns and an abundance of colour? We totally get it! In fairy tales, unicorns often dance over rainbows and have beautiful, brightly coloured manes. A kids' room in this theme is therefore the perfect opportunity to bring plenty of cheerful rainbow colours into play.

Do you happen to have those typical wooden slats against the wall? Then you can paint every three slats in one colour and the next three in a new rainbow colour. This creates a unique and playful rainbow effect that perfectly matches the unicorn magic! Do keep in mind that this project takes a bit of extra time, since careful masking is key to success. On a wooden surface, it's best to mask with this gold masking tape from 3M. The tape ensures razor-sharp lines.

Don't have wooden slats on the wall? No problem! You can also paint the headboard of the bed in rainbow colours instead. A great alternative that makes the room just as magical and is finished a little faster than a full wall.

Get this paint in small quantities

The ideal paint for this project? Libéron Velours de Peinture. These come in small quantities of 150 ml, ideal for painting small surfaces such as wooden slats. These little pots of paint come in a varied colour palette ranging from blue and green to yellow and pink.

Football bedroom with chalkboard paint

Can your child not be pulled away from the football pitch? Then bring that passion for the sport indoors! For a football bedroom, the colour palette is obvious yet highly effective: grass green, bright white and bold black.

An absolute must-have for this room is a play or study corner with magnetic chalkboard paint. This is not only a great eye-catcher, but also super functional! On this black surface, your young footballer can chalk up the ideal lineups for the next match or keep track of the scores. Prefer something more personal? Magnets work just as well for hanging up fun photos of teammates and friends.

Finally, you can paint the outline of a football goal behind the bed. That instantly makes the room feel dynamic.

Colours for a football-themed bedroom

Room for a bookworm

Does your child always have their nose in a book? For a true bookworm, we deliberately keep the room sober and calm. Yet with paint, we still turn it into a wonderfully cosy spot! Choose a serene base in a soft warm white shade. Then, to mark out the ultimate reading corner, paint a large triangle in one of the corners in a warm sand tone. The shape instantly brings a cosy tepee to mind.

Place a comfy beanbag in the point of the triangle and hang up some wall shelves for favourite books. This way you create a magical, snug corner without overwhelming stimuli, where your child can disappear for hours.

Cheerful kids' room for little jokers

Is your child a born optimist, and do you want to reflect that cheerfulness in the room? A smiley theme is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face! To keep the room calming yet still incredibly cheerful, we work with a soft palette of pastel shades.

Choose pastel purple and pastel pink as a serene base on the walls. On top of this, paint subtle, yellow-coloured smileys. Tintrio's handy paint tip: Use a piece of string and a pencil as an improvised compass! By holding the string at the desired length in the middle, you can quickly draw perfect, neat circles on the wall.

Teen room with Taylor Swift orange

Ever since the release of Taylor's latest album on orange vinyl, this striking colour has become THE trend for the teen bedroom.

Combine this bold 'Taylor Swift orange' with a dark wooden piece of furniture and a record player for the ultimate pop artist vibe. Read this blog to find out exactly which shade of orange you need for the perfect look! Want to tone down the bright orange?

Be sure to check out the possible combinations in our blog.

Room in a skate theme

Bring 'street' culture indoors by using concrete-look paint. Apply this paint to 1 or 2 walls and combine it with a white shade. But a skate room is only truly complete with colourful accents. So hang up your old, colourful skateboards on the wall as artwork.

Let your creative teen spray their own graffiti tag on the wall in bright blue, green or yellow. Tintrio's paint tip: with the Colormark Ecomarker krijtspray, you can easily wash the tag off again for a new creation. Finish off the room with metal accents such as an industrial wardrobe, covered with stickers of favourite skate brands.

On the walls, it's best to use 3M purple masking tape. Below you'll find our favourite colour combination, which you can try out or purchase in Levis Ambiance paint.
