Give your kitchen or bathroom tiles a new look with these tips

Want to give the bathroom, kitchen or toilet a quick makeover? If so, have you thought about painting the tiles? Painting tiles is a relatively quick and cheap job you can do yourself. With the right preparations and paint, you can give the tiles in your bathroom, kitchen or toilet a completely new look! How? You can find out here.

Tip 1: Deliberation

First of all: the benefits are numerous! You will save yourself a whole lot of time, work and money if you paint your tiles instead of replacing them.

Of course, as with everything, there are drawbacks to all the advantages. For example, paint is slightly less wear-resistant than the surface of a new tile. However, if you paint your tiles correctly and with the right products, they can last for a while.

Tip 2: Every tile is different

Floor tiles are different from wall tiles, and bathroom and toilet tiles are sometimes even a little different from kitchen tiles. For example, you also have mosaic tiles or very large tiles, and embossed tiles or very smooth tiles. The question now is: can you paint them all?

You can paint both wall and floor tiles, but depending on which tiles you want to paint, you will need a suitable preparation or tile paint. For example, you usually need to apply a primer before you can effectively paint the tiles. Sigma Multiprimer Aqua and Trimetal Multiprimer Aqua Protect are perfect for this purpose. After the primer, you can of course give the tiles a fresh colour. For the final coat, you can choose the Sigma Tigron Aqua Satin and the Sigma Tigron Aqua Matt. You can buy the paint in almost all colours from us.

If it really has to go fast, you can also always opt for the Levis Simply Refresh Wall Tiles Satin or the V33 Renovation Perfection Kitchen. These paints do not require you to apply primer beforehand.

Also, very smooth tiles and floor tiles require adapted preparation. First of all, they need to be clean and grease-free so that the paint adheres well. You can read how to do that in this blog post.

Mosaic tiles are normally no problem for painting either. They do have more grouting, but you can just paint the grouting as well. With relief tiles, depending on the depth of the relief, it is easier to work with a brush or felt roller. You can also treat them in the same way as a plain tile.

Tip 3: All the colours of the rainbow

Colours and tastes simply differ. We can at least get you started on finding the ideal colour. If you want to give your kitchen or bathroom a timeless look, it is best to paint the tiles in a neutral and soothing colour. With taupe, pastel or white tones you will always be right.

Moreover, you can paint one wall in a light colour and the others in a slightly darker shade. This will give your kitchen or bathroom a sophisticated and chic look. For example, you can give your tiles a mint green colour and paint the floor a dark green or black.
