Description

Cetol Filter 7 Plus is a silk-gloss transparent wood protection for your dimensionally stable exterior wood.

This product based on a new generation of high-solid alkyd resins has a higher percentage of solids compared to traditional alkyd resins. As a result, you get greater film formation and a thicker layer, thus offering better protection and durability.

Another advantage: this stain can be applied to all types of wood after priming with Cetol HLS Plus or Cetol Novatech.

How long does Sikkens Filter 7 last?

If you regularly maintain your wood with Sikkens Filter 7, your wood can last a lifetime. When is it really necessary to re-stain your wood? After five to seven years, there is an urgent need to re-stain your wood to protect it from sun and rain. And there is no harm in applying a new coat even before then. With a transparent stain, we actually recommend an extra coat every three years. However, if you prefer to wait five to seven years, that's no problem for your wood, but it will just look a bit worse. So it is not the case that your wood stain will fall off in flakes. So you shouldn't be afraid of that.

How long will this Sikkens Cetol stay on wood?

Cetol Filter 7 will not flake or fall off your wood. In fact, this product has good adhesion if you use the right primer such as Sikkens HLS Plus or Sikkens Cetol Novatech. After about seven years, you may well notice that a stain pulverises a bit, in which case it is high time to sand and apply a new coat of this Sikkens Cetol filter 7 plus stain.

How long protection against UV rays?

Is your wooden surface facing the sun or does it mainly catch shade? It all depends on how often and how long your wooden window frames, garden shed, ... are in full sun. For example, UV protection varies from 3 to 7 years. So it varies a lot. But the trick to keep in mind: if your wood discolours, it will need a new protective layer of stain to be better protected against UV rays. However, after 5, 6 or 7 years, does your wood still have its beautiful hue? Then fortunately it is still protected from the sun's rays and you can go on for a while.

Is Cetol Filter 7 Plus a topcoat?

The answer is yes! You apply Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 after a primer such as Sikkens HLS PLus or Sikkens Novatech. Two coats of Filter 7 Plus will give you sublime protection against UV rays. This stain is the most effective against sun discolouration!

What can you stain with Cetol filter 7?

Actually, you can stain just about anything with this topcoat. From wooden window frames and doors to facade cladding. Staining your garden house with this top coat is also an excellent choice. When you receive the Sikkens Filter 7, you have the latest packaging. Since about two years ago, Sikkens has changed the name and packaging, but the product is still the same. So you can certainly apply a new coat of the Sikkens Cetol Filter 7 on an old Filter 7 Plus layer.

How to use Cetol Filter 7 plus?

Prepare: Remove loose dirt with a brush. Sand the wood along the wood grain. Clean and dry the wood surface with synthetical thinner. Use protective foil and masking tape to cover off the surroundings.
Prime: Then first prime the surface with Cetol Novatech or Cetol HLS Plus. Let it dry before apply Cetol Filter 7.
Apply: Stir the product well, then apply it with a broad long-haired stain brush. Let dry and continue to apply a second and third coat if necessary. Do not delay applying the next coat. If you wait longer than a month, you will not get the desired results.
