Woodprotect Satin and its variants: Which one will you choose?

One Woodprotect in satin finish is not the other. We would therefore like to explain to you the differences between Woodprotect Solid Satin, Woodprotect Ultra Satin, Woodprotect 2in1 Satin, and the ‘regular’ Woodprotect Satin. Because when you see them side by side, you have no idea which one best suits your needs.

Let's go through them one by one 👇

Buy Woodprotect in satin? Read the differences!

  • The best-selling Sigma stain is the Woodprotect Solid Satin. This is an opaque water-based stain that allows you to colour your wood in almost any shade. With this stain, the idea is to give your wooden surface a different look and colour. Although with an opaque stain, the wood structure still comes through, for a natural feel. Ideal for applying to dimensionally stable wood, e.g. wooden gates.
  • The ‘normal’ Woodprotect Satin, on the other hand, is a transparent solvent-based stain. With this transparent Sigma stain, you can paint wood structures such as doors and window frames in various wood tones. You can also choose from some decorative colours from the Sigma Woodprotect colour chart. The wood grain is additionally accentuated when you choose woodprotect Satin. A similarity to the product above: its weather resistance.
  • Woodprotect 2in1 Classic Satin is also a transparent stain but it is known for its impregnation capacity and is therefore applied as a primer in many stain systems. So you can use it as a primer on wooden window frames, windows and doors. But there are also projects for which you can use this transparent stain both as a primer and as a finish. In fact, for garden houses, fencing and garden furniture, we recommend this Woodprotect 2in1 Satin in a three-coat system. When you apply 3 coats, your garden wood is optimally protected against rain and sun.
  • Then we have the Sigma Woodprotect Ultra Satin. This transparent stain (water-based) is one that can come in very handy in Belgium or the Netherlands, because after about 30 minutes this stain is already rainproof. Good anyway if you doubt that another rain shower is in the air. In addition, this stain is not only often chosen for outdoors, it is also often used indoors on softwood and hardwood such as panelling and wooden ceilings. For indoors, you can apply this sigma stain without a primer. For exterior use, Woodprotect 2in1 products are recommended for a first coat.
