Which putty do I need for my surface?

This time, this paint guide will guide you through putty for specific substrates, because you have putty for gyproc, plasterboard, but also putty for wood. So whatever filling project you have in mind, we explain below which type of putty is best to use.
So that afterwards you can enjoy painting on a smooth surface 👇

Use wall paint on wood yes or no?

The short but correct answer is no. Wall paint should not be applied on wood. So if you have wooden door frames, window frames or skirting boards, it is better to choose a lacquer. All interior lacquers can be found here.

Conversely, a lacquer can be applied to walls. This way, your walls are also immediately protected against scratches and abrasions. Ideal if your hobby is moving furniture around your home.

Wall paint on ceilings?

Applying wall paint on your ceiling is perfectly possible. All you need to pay attention to is whether your wall paint has a long open flow. We also have a ceiling paint category for you where the paints all have a longer working time, so you can paint a ceiling without streaks.

So be sure to take a look at our selection of ceiling paints. But so you still have wall paint at home and want to apply it to your ceiling? You can definitely do this too!

Painting MDF with wall paint?

Whether you want to paint brown or green MDF, the method remains the same. And no, you do not paint MDF with a classic wall paint. You paint MDF like wood, which means you have to use a lacquer primer and lacquer topcoat. However, if you paint MDF with wall paint, the result will look less neat.

Puttying gyproc

To fill gyproc seams, simply apply the ready-to-use Dalapro Medium filler. It is best to apply 3 layers of this to your gyproc walls to achieve as even a result as possible.

But you can also fill gyproc with a powder putty. For example, our professionals like to work with Polyfilla Pro F120 in powder form, of which you only need to apply two layers. This is because this high-quality putty suffers less from shrinkage and usually also dries faster. Ideal for filling your gyproc or plasterboard in lanes like a pro!

Fillers wood: our recommendations

When puttying wood, you should first ask yourself what finish you want to apply afterwards.

  1. If you want to work with a high-gloss paint, your wooden surface needs to be filled perfectly even and even mirror-smooth. With Polyfilla Spiegelgladde Lakplamuur you can fill even the smallest scratch. Or get started with the professionals' favourite lacquer filler, Toupret Lakplamuur.

  2. Do you need to repair small holes in your wood and do you want the wood look to remain visible afterwards? Then it is better to choose a wood filler with a brown colour. Think of Polyfilla Kneedbaar Hout. This wood filler paste is available in various wood shades such as light oak, meranti, etc.

Or get to work with a similar product that our professionals love, namely ProGold 2K Wood Repair. This is a two-component putty, which not only allows you to repaint or stain the surface, but also keeps it very sandable and resistant to cracking and cracking. You cannot immediately choose a ready-made colour yourself, but you can colour the paste with universal mixing paste if you wish. Highly recommended!

Which filler for MDF?

Do you have MDF boards in your home where you want to level small seams or nail gun holes with your substrate? Then use a filler for MDF such as the well-known Polyfilla Mdf Vuller with which numerous MDF boards have already been filled.

Do you prefer a filler for MDF from a brand that professionals like to buy? Then we recommend our Jansen Snelplamuur. This is a fast-drying solvent-based product that you can apply in a layer thickness of 1 mm. Ideal for those small seams and staple holes. Do you still have to deal with deeper holes? Then just fill them in several layers.

Which putty to apply on fibreglass wallpaper or tasso?

Fibreglass wallpaper puttying differs slightly from the method of Tasso puttying. Why? Well, fibreglass wallpaper is plain and tasso features some potholes. So to putty tasso, we first recommend filling this texture. As a painthusiast, you can easily do this yourself with just 1 product, namely Toupret Redlight. This paste putty not only fills but also finishes. You might need to apply 3 coats of this.

To putty your fibreglass wallpaper, you can use the same product, but only need to apply 1 layer of putty to your fibreglass wallpaper.

Dalapro also has putty in its high-quality range to help you with your fibreglass wallpaper patching or tasso filling job. For example, you can use Dalapro Facade for filling the tasso wallpaper. We choose two layers of the facade putty here because you can apply it a little thicker, which is easier to use.

To finish, professionals still prefer an even finer putty than mentioned above. In fact, they often go with Dalapro Fine. Ideal for puttying fibreglass wallpaper or for putting a final fine putty on your tasso wallpaper. Guaranteed to be a success!

Concrete filling

Filling concrete, which filler do you use? If you prefer to use ready-to-use putty because it is easy to work with, we recommend Touprelex for filling cracks and holes. Afterwards, you can level out the concrete wall with Toupret Fassad Level & Finish.

If you prefer to start first with a powder filler, you can choose to fill your facade or concrete with Toupret Mur Ex. This is a powder filler which becomes extremely hard and can be painted over after only 24 hours. Levelling concrete can then be done with both Toupret Fassad Level & Finish and Dalapro Facade. We ourselves are big fans of Dalapro Facade, so we have a lot of pots in stock.
